Well it has been slightly over a year since retirement came about and I think I have handled it rather well. After 40 years of heading into The Arb I didn't find it too hard to settle into reading the newspaper and enjoying my coffee in the morning. I've kept in touch with staff on a periodic basis but only on a personal basis. I'm sure my health has been better not being involved in the stress of dealing with the GTI move.
I wish I could say the same wrt to my PSA. It has begun to creep up and it looks like I'll need to go on some hormone shots in the next year or less to keep it in check. A lot will depend on what the level is in November but I suspect that by early next year Chin will have me undergo an MRI and a bone scan to get a better idea what is happening. Of course by that time it will be 14 years since I received the original diagnosis.
Hiking has been slow but progressive. More will come on that later.

August 30, 2009

Well it has been almost a year since I created this blog and perhaps I'm ready now to enter some notes in it on our hiking. We try to get out every weekend and bite off a bit more of the Bruce Trail. Eventually we hope to complete the whole length but who knows.

Today we went south and did a portion near Beamsville. Some stony terrain and uneven footing with a couple of good climbs. We have wisened up in our old age and plan our hikes if possible where we can leave our bikes at an end point and then drive to the start. After the hike we ride back to the car on the roads. Saves time, acts as a cool down for our legs and avoids some of those dreadful repeated sections. As usual one of our comments was "It would be great to be here in the spring when the streams are really roaring with spring melt!"

Posting a couple of pictures of the day.

Well here I have created a blog and it is obvious I'm new to the media and not a particularly inspired writer so please bear with me as I go about developing my skills.

Looking forward to hiking on the Bruce Trail this coming weekend and hopefully I'll be inspired and perhaps post a picture or two of our outings. We try to get out at least once every weekend so perhaps by 2011 we'll have covered the complete Trail. Being a one car family we usually need to cover our hike twice unless there is an interesting loop or oxbow effect with intersecting roads or trails that we can take advantage of.

Beginnings

Where does one start as a blogger? Will anyone read it? What pictures, if any will I post? Enough for now! 1 step at a time.
